What is IP rating?

This image show how to know what IP rating want to tell.

IP rating is a kind of scale that tells us how much water or liquid and dust particles our smartphone or any other electronic device will be protected from. This scale has been created by the International Electrotechnical Commission. In which IP means “Ingress Protection“.

IP rating consists of two numbers after IP. The first number tells us how many dust particles the smartphone can block. Its range is from 1 to 6. The second number tells us how much water the smartphone can use. Due to which there is no damage to the smartphone. Its range is from 1 to 8. The bigger the number in the IP rating, the better it is for the smartphone.

Why give IP rating in Smartphone

Nowadays smartphone is such a device without which it is very difficult to imagine a day. In such a situation, we have always had to deal with water and dust. Due to this, if water or dust goes into our smartphone by mistake, then the smartphone can also get damaged. To protect the smartphone from all this and increase its durability, the smartphone brand gives IP rating.

Do all smartphones have IP rating

Whether or not any smartphone has an IP rating depends on its price. If the IP rating is given in the smartphone, then the price of the smartphone increases. Because IP rating is an expensive technology. In mid-range smartphone, we get cheap IP rating like IPX5 or IP55. At the same time, in the flagship smartphone, we get to see the rating of IP67 or IP68.

Which is the best IP rating

We can find out the best IP rating by looking at its numbers. The first number in the IP rating tells us that any solid thing such as dust or sand can prevent soil from entering the smartphone. Its range is from 1 to 6. And the second number tells us how much it can prevent any liquid like water or oil from going inside the smartphone. Its range is from 1 to 8.

In whatever IP rating, the bigger the two numbers, the better the IP rating. Right now all flagship smartphones get IP68 rating which is considered the best right now. Even better IP rating comes from this. Putting it affects the price of the smartphone and the smartphone will become even more expensive.
