That is why it is very important to have a good display in the smartphone. There are many smartphones in the market, in which different display technology has been used. In such a situation, users get confused as to which display should be taken.

If seen mainly, then only IPS LCD and AMOLED display come in the smartphone in the market. Both the displays have their own specialty. So let’s find out which display is good for you.

What is IPS LCD display

IPS LCD DISPLAY

This display is the same technology as LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). The pixels in these displays are made of liquid crystal. There is a backlight behind the liquid crystal, due to which we see different colors. Due to the different layers in this display, this display becomes thick.

In this we get to see natural color. But the black color in it does not look pure black. Because the backlight always remains on in the IPS LCD display, only its brightness decreases. If we speak directly, then its contrast ratio is not much. Because its backlight always burns, that’s why this display uses more battery.

What is AMOLED Display

AMOLED DISPLAY

This display is an upgrade of the OLED display itself. Amoled (Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting) display has an LED attached to each pixel. There is no backlight in it like IPS LCD Display. This display has color boosted and eye catching.

Because LED has been used in every pixel, so whenever black color is to be seen, then the LED there remains off and burns where the color is to be shown. This also increases its contrast ratio. Because all the pixels do not always burn in it, that is why this battery also works.

IPS LCD VS AMOLED DISPLAY

Both IPS and Amoled display come in the category of a good display. Both the displays have their own merits and demerits. So let’s see:

  • Colour Accuracy: The color looks natural in IPS Display. At the same time, AMOLED display has color boosted and eye catching which is liked by many users. If you like natural colors, then IPS display can be a good choice. On the other hand, if you like saturated and boosted color, then you should take AMOLED display.
  • Contrast Ratio: The contrast ratio of AMOLED Display is higher than IPS display. Because in AMOLED display, each pixel has an LED. That’s why it has black deeper and white brighter. If you watch movies or shows a lot, then you will love to see the content in AMOLED display.
  • Energy efficiency: If the IPS display has to show any color, then the backlight always remains on. Whereas in AMOLED display, the pixel turns off to show black color. Due to this, battery work is used in AMOLED display. That is why AMOLED display is more energy efficient than IPS display.
  • Cost: AMOLED display is costlier than IPS display. That is why smartphones with AMOLED display are more expensive than smartphones with IPS display.

Conclusion:

The user of the display uses the most in any smartphone. In such a situation, choosing a good display is not very difficult.
If you like to watch content like movies, web series or YouTube videos or you like boosted or saturated color then you should go for amoled display.

If you like natural color and want a nice bright display then you should go for IPS Display.
